Police not satisfied with suicide claim in death of first year student

The KNUST district police have begun investigations into the alleged suicide by a first year chemical engineering student.

The rather sad incident that happened on Friday has triggered public uproar over pressure put on students to perform.

Unconfirmed reports say the deceased, Adjoa Ayimadu-Antwi committed suicide because she failed one of her courses and was depressed because she had disappointed her parents.

Two of her roommates honoured police invitation on Saturday to assist the KNUST police personnel with investigation.

District commander, DSP Boakye Ansah told Luv FM’s Prince Appiah the police is not satisfied with the claim of suicide.

He said the police will begin thorough investigations into the matter to ascertain the truth behind the death of the student.

He also dismissed assertions the room mates had been arrested. He said they were only invited to assist in the investigations.
